   Nov 16, 2009 Mom

Southern Bell territory... This is going to cost mr some cavbage....hopefully the University can approve of the T:-pimp crawl on Main n Beale..,trying to get a music education at the least.

   Nov 17, 2009 Tues

Memphis, TN- the answers to world peace will be found in lessons of Vietnam and how America solves their cities violence problems (1 hint- parents need to demonstrate and teach family/community values)...//Driftn South Wed.

   Nov 17, 2009 Tues

Learned today that a person so enthralled in the crack game will still try to hustle you bud even though you just want to give him $5....I thought I was clear in saying I don't want your garbage, but I guess you were too wrapped up in the Beale Street scam that you just had to put it in my pocket..., I really was going for the honest 'feeling of helping' someone rather than that 'I got robbed/hustled feeling... what's unfortunate is that assholes like this guy represent community...

   Nov 18, 2009 Wed

Driftn South from Memphis...got the Beale Street Blues. // Headed to a new state tommorrow: Mississippi. Wish Tennesse had a few more river cities. Chilli for dinner.

   Nov 19, 2009 Fri

Welcome to Mississippi! First stop, the Vegas of the Blue South- Tunica, Miss. Toured the river interpretive center (haven't seen that anywhere on the river), was chauferred from the dock on a golf cart (great way to get some wood life in on limited mobility...no drive-by hunting allowed), got a hitch to the gas station from Calvin...the Midsouth vibe in Tunica is good country love in a county that was the poorest in the US before the casino's started employing peopling in '82. To top the night, Eric stayed at his first casino when we got comped at the Fitz.

   Nov 20, 2009 Fri

Tunica, MS. Calvin gives us a chauffeured golf cart ride back to the raft from the casino in the morning to film... Thanks Tunica County. Drifted downstream to Moon Landing, then a spill way.. That had a nice choir of hungry coyotes, a cousin raft of the Quixote, and excellent place for wakes to make us bang our heads on the shore while we slept.// served a 3-course meal comprised off trailmix, tuna/chicken ramen casserole, and so redbach popcorn.

   Nov 24, 2009 Tues

Rosedale, Mississippi (of Robert Johnson blues fame). Talk to three different boats on the river in one day (record high for ten week high), including the Eckstein barge... they hooked us up with 5 gallons of gas. On the 5 mile walk to town Jimmy hitched us ride for gas and food to and from the station. Thanks guys.

   Nov 25, mmix Tue

50+ mile day gets us to Greensville, MS. Not bad for having to untangle a thick, multi colored, giant squid-rope from the prop right out of the gate. Eric is currently drinking by himself at a Blues Bar while I'm back at the boat... That's a switch... Apparently he has hot women, foos, and a stay with the band lined up.., this should be interesting.

   Nov 22, 2009 Sun

Friar Point, Mississippi. Watched some Sunday football at Porkey's. Drank some Busch 22oz beers around town with the locals... Local 5-0 didn't seem to mind the open containers on the street.

   Nov 23, 2009 Mon

Traveled 25 miles south (the pace we need to keep to get to the Big Easy by Dec 15) to one of the coolest sandbar/islands we've seen on the river. Built a 'bomb' fire on the beach. Made Incredible (hulk) slop for dinner.

   Nov 26, 2009 Thur

Greenville, MS. Week 11. Happy Thanks, G! Last night proved to be everything Eric promised at the Blues Bar... The Mayhem String Band was killin it last night... Hot chicks galore.... And I'm lovin how the South is big into body contact..., though French Kissing hot 20 year olds at the bar while her guy friend is 10 feet away is a bit more than normal in most cultures. //. The day consists of getting gas (thanks for the ride Curtis from the Jubilee Casino) and groceries... Grab Thanks day grub at the Lighthouse Casino Buffet. Much thanks too all that have supported us!

   Nov 27, 2009 Fri

Head out from Greenville, MS. Headed to Providence, Arkansas. Nice day. Having to drive back down the slough/lake takes over a hour to go 5 miles and uses up 3 gallons of gas. //. We estimate we hitch 1 ride every 3 days... That's quite a few rides over 11 weeks; hitch hiking lives!

   Nov 28, 2009 Sat

Made it to Louisiana (LA) today... Eric and I decided that there definitely needs to be signs on the river like the state "Welcome" signs on the highway, so we made one for LA and posted it at mile marker 502.4. Less than 420 miles to go.

   Nov 29, 2009 Sunday

Lake Providence, Louisiana for Sunday football. We had our first ride from 'Weed' within 20 minutes of walking for gas....walked 5 miles to The Dock/Subway to watch football and get some Cajun cooking...Never watched football at Subway before....Brett Favre of the Vikings rocked the Chicago Bears and nearly broke his single game passing yards record.

   Nov 30, 2009 Monday

50+ mile day to Vicksburg, Mississippi (3 miles up the Yazoo river...is this where the saying "up the yazoo" comes from?). Eric bought us the $10 buffet at the Horizon Casino. I ate like a horse...I think my whiskers need sustenance. Parked at the River Front near downtown...helped push the dock out...staying one more night tmr so we can refuel, get supplies, and utilize the wi-fi at the library.
